Three Week Summer Tutorial in Ontario
Program Overview
In small group setting, the participants will be provided with an added opportunity to improve their language skills and increase their knowledge of Canadian culture. Each group consists of 4 or 5 participants who possess similar language levels.
Tutorial Program Format
The participants meet with their teacher (in a chosen location which could be a nearby public library for example) Monday through Friday for three weeks. Evenings and weekends are spent with the host family.
Four days of the week are devoted to language classes in the morning (9:00 - 12:00) which emphasize oral English. The afternoon is spent going on field trips and activities where they can use the language they are learning. An all day excursion is planned one day a week to a point of interest in the area. The small groups join together for all activities and excursions.
Teachers (Tutorial portion of program)
The teachers are chosen for their competence in teaching English, for their rapport with young people and their enthusiasm for sharing Canadian culture. The teachers follow a curriculum outline provided by Nacel and are encouraged to be creative in adapting the curriculum to the needs of the individual participants.
